Listen To Roadhouse Radio NOW: 04/25/12: Todd Snider In-Studio!

Todd Snider

Todd Snider is a great guy and this is one of my favorite in-studios.

You've heard tracks from his loaded, new record Agnostic Hyms & Stoner Fables (one of his best) on the show in the past month or so, and we now learn that he has a Jerry Jeff Walker tribute album that's just been released too. He plays solo and acoustic, is dressed as Badly Drawn Boy (his comparison!), and has lots of banter with me about stuff and things; including a touching story about drinking with Jerry Jeff, liberal causes that included hakey-sack, and a hilarious song about "precious little miracles". It's killer, with morning voice and all. And it was recorded on 4/20! (Oh ya, I got some emails about my Jimmy Buffet comment. Sorry!)

The beginning of the show is all about early rock 'n roll songs from the late 50's and early 60's, and some new recordings that are inspired by that sound from JD McPherson, Tom Waits (OK, not so new anymore), Nick Waterhouse, and Jack White.

And, I was 15 mins late too. So the first few songs are courtesy of Kevin Cole. Thanks Kev!

Dig it! Click the link to hear all 3 hours via KEXP's streaming archive.
