Listen To Roadhouse Radio NOW: 03/14/12: Root Down!

This show's got it all!

Jimmy Smith kicks things off with the record he recorded himself in 1972, Root Down which was immortalized by the Beastie Boys and others since being recognozed as the funky gem that it is. Then the current state of Soul is presented by new acts like Allen Stone, Michael Kiwanuka, Liam Bailey, Mayer Hawthorne, Raphael Saadiq, Charles Bradley, local outfit Satellite 4 featuring Charles Van Zandt, and The Roots backing up Betty Wright. Plus the new record from Lee Fields and his hot backing band The Expressions

The we go forward with some great new relleases from Todd Snider (his best yet, and loaded with commentary and wit!) Fred Eaglesmith, Charlie Parr, Justin Townes Earle, and new re-issues from Shirley Ann Lee (gospel!), Wendt Rene, as well as some crazy comps about BBQ.
